Abstract
This research was conducted with the aim of comparing the effectiveness of group training based on early maladaptive schemas and mindfulness on experiential avoidance and distress tolerance in female adolescents with high body mass index.The method was semi-experimental with a pre-test, post-test and two-month follow-up plan with a control group.The statistical population was adolescent girls with high body mass index who were studying in the second secondary school from military families in one of the military settlements of Tehran in 1401-1400, from among them by available sampling 45 people were selected and assigned randomly in three groups of 15 people.Data collection was done with a researcher-made demographic information checklist, experiential avoidance questionnaire (Bond et al., 2011) and distress tolerance questionnaire (Simmons and Gaher,, 2005).Body mass was assessed based on BMI.The subjects of both groups received 8 sessions of training, but the control group did not receive any .The data was conducted using analysis of variance with repeated measurements and showed in the post-test stage, there is a statistically significant difference between the average score of distress tolerance and its dimensions and the total score of experimental avoidance in three groups(P<0.05).This difference in the follow-up phase was also statistically significant (P<0.05).Tthe results of Benferroni's post hoc test showed that there is no significant difference in the effectiveness of training early maladaptive schema and mindfulness therapy on experimental avoidance (P<0.05), but the effectiveness of schema compared to mindfulness. It has been more effective on stress tolerance in different stages of measurement (P<0.05).
