Excellence models are regarded as devices for helping organizations for identifying the process of excellence, assessment of the organizations situation, and providing appropriate solutions for improving their performances. Most of the change and improvement specialists believe that empowering the employees is an effective strategy for achieving organizational change objectives, especially the goals of organizational excellence. This research is intended to investigate the role of psychological empowerment in the employees of Iranian Customs Office (Gomrok). A randomly selected sample group, including 243 subjects, was formed from the employees of the main headquarters. A questionnaire including 34 questions was employed to collect data. As the data seemed to be normal, regression was used for assessing the changes in the variables. One sample T test was employed to review the status quo, and Friedman test was used for prioritizing the indicators. The results indicated that psychological empowerment had a significant effect on organizational excellence. Aspects such as self-determinacy, and meaningfulness of the job were more effective on organizational excellence than other aspects of psychological empowerment.
