| چکیده [English] | ||
| Beliefs on who a good parent is play a pivotal role in parents’ daily lives, acting as a guide on decision-making regarding parenthood and child-bearing practices. Accordingly, the present article employs a phenomenology method to explain the public understanding regarding the characteristics of a good Father. To this end, 90 individuals residing in Tehran, including fathers, mothers, married men and women without children, and unmarried girls and boys at marriageable age, were purposively selected for interview. The result was the identification of 12 characteristics for a good father listed as follows: “accepted role model”, “comprehensive growth”, “constructive interaction between parents and children”, “committed agency”, “decent interaction with mothers”, “sustainable support”, “affections”, “intimacy”, “prudent management”, “cognitive-based talent development”, “peace and security”, and “affectionate authority”. Findings indicate that fathers are expected to actively and comprehensively participate in the task of childbearing, further necessitating the acquisition of certain knowledge and skills required for making a good parent | ||
