Abstract | ||
Divorce or death of one of the spouses due to remarriage. Remarried couples experience more challenges than couples with first marriage, therefore, improving the quality of remarriage prevents the occurrence of marital conflicts. the present study aimed to determine the effectiveness of narrative therapy on changing possible selves and love story of men and women with remarriage. methodology was quasi-experimental with pretest- posttest and control group with follow- up. Participants included couples with remarriage referring to counseling center of Behzei in Tehran in 2022. Through purposeful sampling, 20 couples (40 participants) who met the inclusion criteria were selected and randomly assigned to two groups of narrative therapy or control (n1=n2=10 couples(. research tools were the sclaes of Sternberg’s (1995) love story and Rogers’s (1951) Self- concept. the interventions of Payne (2004)’s narrative therapy administered to the experimental group during eight weekly, 90- minute sessions and data were analyzed using mixed repeated measures analysis variance. Results showed that narrative therapy effect on changing possible selves and love story and this effect remained stable in follow- up (P<0.001). the results showed that using narrative therapy techniques can increase the possible selves of remarried couples and reduce the difference in the love story of couples. | ||
