چکیده [English] | ||
Maternal gatekeeping includes ways in which mothers limit or enhance fathers' involvement in parenting. The present study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the three-dimensional maternal gatekeeping scale (MGK_P) by Pohlman and Palsi (2017) in the Iranian mother community. Method: The current research was of the psychometric type, which is correlational research. The current statistical population included 386 Iranian mothers with 2-5 children who were selected using the available sampling method. The participants completed the Persian version of the scale together with the Enrich Marital Satisfaction Questionnaire (ENRICH) and Domka Parenting Self-Efficacy Scale (PSAM). To check the construct validity, the method of confirmatory factor analysis and convergent and divergent validity was used by calculating the Pearson correlation coefficient, and to check the validity of the instrument, the internal consistency index based on Cronbach's alpha coefficient and composite reliability index was used. result: The results of confirmatory factor analysis indicated the fit and desirability of the three-dimensional model. The significant correlations between this scale and the parenting self-efficacy and marital satisfaction scales also confirmed the divergent and convergent validity of this scale. The validity of the scale was calculated using Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the dimensions in the range of 0.73 to 0.80, and the composite validity for the dimensions of this scale was between 0.72 and 0.81. Conclusion Discussion: Due to the desirability of the psychometric properties of the Persian Maternal Gatekeeping Scale, it can be used as a valid tool in the society of Iranian mothers.
